Vic: Fire, explosion deliberate

Arson squad detectives believe a fire and subsequent explosion that killed a man in
a bakery at North Geelong was deliberately lit.

Police say a small dark coloured sedan was seen in a street behind the Melbourne Road
shop at the time of the blaze.

They say a barefooted man was also seen in the area after the fire and detectives were
keen to speak to anyone who might have seen the car or who knew the dead man.

Firefighters found the body of a man believed to be in his 20s while battling the blaze
around 1.15am (AEST) yesterday.

He has not yet been identified.

Witnesses say a huge bang appeared to take the roof off the building, with flames roaring
skywards.

The explosion scattered glass and debris across the road.
