A streamlined process for revoking parole should help relieve local jail crowding, the chairman of the state Parole Board said Wednesday.
Under the new policy, which was approved by the Legislature this year, administrative law judges can revoke parole. In the past, the Parole Board revoked parole upon a judge's recommendation.
"I am confident that this process will hasten the return to prison of those releasees whose behavior threatens community safety and ensure that they serve a more meaningful penalty period," said Raul Russi, board chairman.
