Fed: Australia still fighting on commodity tariffs: Vaile

Trade Minister MARK VAILE says Australia won't give up on its commitment for cuts in
world agriculture tariffs.

Mr VAILE has told a livestock conference in Brisbane he is upbeat about knocking down
agricultural tariffs despite the resistance of the EU and Japan.

He says the Cairns Group of free-trading nations, of which Australia is a member, is
getting more support from developing countries as they realise the importance of tariff
reductions.

Mr VAILE will be chairing the next Cairns Group ministerial council meeting in Canada in October.

The meeting is expected to develop a strategy for member nations to increase the pace
of tariff reform.
