Vic: Bulldog loses battle with stingray

MELBOURNE, Feb 22 AAP - Jarrad Grant's AFL debut for the Western Bulldogs has been
put on painful hold after he was stung on the ankle by a stingray.

Grant was in the Bulldogs' squad for tonight's pre-season match against Essendon, but
hobbled home on crutches today after the painful sting at Port Melbourne beach.

The 18-year-old, ironically drafted from the Dandenong Stingrays last year, suffered
a minor puncture wound to his left ankle while in shallow water during a club recovery
training session early this morning.
